Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400℉. In a stand mixer, use the paddle attachment to cream butter and maple sugar until fluffy. Add all cookie ingredients, one at a time, while continuously mixing. Add flour last, little by little, on slow speed. Scrape down sides when needed until you have a dough formed.

Step 2

Roll out dough between 2 pieces of unbleached parchment paper to about ¼” thick. Remove top paper, then use a cookie cutter to cut out cookies. Place cookie cutouts on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake at 400℉ for 8 minutes, then remove from oven and let cool on rack completely before frosting.

Step 3

Make the frosting in a stand mixer using the paddle attachment. Mix butter on medium-high until it’s fluffy and turns white, about 2 minutes. Add vanilla and powdered maple sugar and whip until nice and fluffy. Add natural food color, such as beet powder, if using and whip. Spread frosting onto cookies and enjoy!

Note

Cookies can be stored in airtight container for a few days or you can freeze them and thaw at a later date. Shop my reels for supplies, tools and equipment here.
