December 6th, 2010 the high end mass retailer Saks Fifth Avenue launched a blog. The blog was intended to give Saks’ point of view on fashion and lifestyle. A year later, Saks POV has drawn countless loyal readers and a decent lineup of contributors. The social media presence of high-end retailers, or retailers in general, is more important now than ever before.
It makes us feel as if they have squat down to our eye level and said “Hey look! This is what we love and why you should love it too“. It’s inspiration from the pros, breaking fashion news from the people working the floor, and tips and tricks we wish we knew sooner.
So if this happened a year ago, what’s the big deal now?
Well, Saks took out the big guns this time with a total face lift on their blog! When you navigate your browser to www.sakspov.com you will be instantly reminded of their iconic shopping bag as it fills the background. Then, you’ll notice the user-friendly navigation tabs: Women, Men, A Daily Fashion Fix, and a clever little inspirational section named ‘Learn it. Love it. Live it’. Denise Incandela, Chief Marketing Officer and President of Saks Direct said of their new blog,
Our objective was to give the story behind the products. We can use this as an outlet to engage with our customer and a portal for the best of fashion editorial…We want to be the go-to destination for our customers.
The new Saks POV will include guest editors and references to favorite blogs. There are many new aspects to Saks POV that will probably have something for everyone, and if not now, articles are updated on a weekly basis by their contributors. Their web design is easy to navigate and you can easily navigate to the SHOP SAKS section if you’re feelin’ a bit Saks happy.
And for all you shoe lovers, there’s something extra special for you too. Saks linked their 10022-Shoe Tumblr page to Saks POV so you can fulfill all of your shoe staring needs: big & tall, fluffy or tough, and sleek and chic!
