Fall and winter may seem like times to stick with neutral colors like gray, black and browns but that’s not true this season. We’ve heard time and time again that bright colors are your go-to trend, but don’t forget about pastels and jewel tones! There’s several different ways to add color into your wardrobe without having a realization after you buy that neon pink blazer that it matches with nothing you own! So, I’ve put together for you my ideas of what looks great with what most of us already have in our closets, according to colors!
My inspiration for wearing color in the fall was when I came across the photograph below of Christine Centenera, Fashion Editor for Harper’s Bazaar (Australia). She’s seen here in a Josh Goot silk colorblast dress with a leather jacket, wrap scarf and gloves. This outfit looks so chic and is not the typical way to dress in the winter. Christine’s style is amazing and is constantly inspiring me!
First is the color gray or creme, which for most of us is always present in our closet. It’s a great color for mixing and matching, and looks great on almost every skin tone. A great way to add some color to your dreary gray is to find pastel accessories, pants and shoes. Think of it like searching for the prettiest Easter egg!
Next, the perfect way to steer clear of that goth-like black. Now, personally, I think anyone can wear all black and totally pull it off… as long as it’s worn right! But if you disagree, you can try adding neon colors like a simple bright manicure, or adding some statement shoes! You can also shoot for gem tones like ruby reds, and deep purples.
And lastly, brown and camel. I don’t own too much of these colors because they’re so easy to overdo! Seeing how easy it is to add a simple yellow pair of trousers or a bright red t-shirt, I will totally be wearing more brown this season.
I hope you take a trip to your closet after reading this so that you can see how easy it will be to spice up your style for fall! Whenever those extremely cold gray days come around, don’t get yourself down and blend in with the weather…just add some color to brighten up your day!
