The feeling of staying warm, comfortable, and cozy are important aspects of a happy lifestyle during the winter months. For some reason though, after the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Hanukkah holidays have passed, our holiday cheer is gone, leaving us with little inspiration to create beautiful, cheerful environments. After the New Year, it’s okay to seek inspiration in creating a refreshing home look and home style. Below, we’ve started simple with a beautiful table setting that’s fit for a weekend breakfast with friends and family.
How To Create A Breakfast Table Setting
You can make yourself a festive table using things around your house that may be re-purposed – such as a drawer organizer as a centerpiece. We began our table setting with 1940’s era Parisian, geometric chairs and an antique wood table as our foundation. We continued to build our table setting with natural elements, pops of color, and white china.
Our festive breakfast table is fitting for a meal of eggs and bacon with fruit. By combining rustic and natural elements with white china and florals, we’ve suggested our anticipation for spring. Make sure though, that when creating a cozy, winter tabletop, to veer away from overly colorful elements as they can look too summery.
Table Centerpiece: rather than holiday-style pumpkins and gourds or holly and cranberries, place natural elements like dried plants to fill the center of the table. You can get this at your local farmer’s market. Because this table-setting is for morning we will not need candles. Instead, our centerpieces can be jams, butter, and fruits – items already on our table for the meal. We chose to display the fruits in oblong, porcelain, antique dishes and the salt, pepper and jams in a woven sisal divider.
Table Setting: the wood table does not need a table cloth because we have used natural tan, sisal-style place mats. White china makes a dark table setting look fresh. Lastly, floral napkins are not just for spring and summer table settings! The floral napkins we have used add a pop of color to the table, reminding everyone that spring is coming!
