When you walk into a store and are thinking about making a purchase you have a few different ways of deciding. Does it fit just right? Does the color look good with your skin-tone? Do you look okay in the mirror?
And then there is what your friends think.
Having a friends opinion can sometimes even take first place when it comes time to deciding whether to buy those new heels that seem just to high or that skirt that might be just be a little too extreme for everyday wear. Opinions and advice from friends is pertinent to deciding on buying decisions especially when expanding your wardrobe. Have you taken asking for shopping advice a step further? It is all about word of mouth recommendations from friends, family, and peers, and within the last year a few new mediums have come into play for recommendations…know what we are hinting at yet?
If you guessed social mediums you’re correct, reward yourself with some online shopping. But in all seriousness social media is not just for sharing an interesting article or letting friends know your weekend plans—it’s for recommendations.
Many consumers admit that they trust peer recommendations when buying products over advertisements, so with fashion, you can imagine it’s no different. Now shoppers are taking to their mobile phones while in stores, and searching for advice online to know what the newest trend is, and to decide on whether or not something is worth stretching your pockets.
Many fashion sites allow you to share your purchase on Facebook. Not only does this help the company advertise, but you can show your friends what you either bought or are thinking about buying. Then there is the capability to upload photos via your Smartphone. Posting pictures to twitter asking for a recommendation on whether you should buy something, or if something matches…all ways to get honest opinions—from most at least.

When it comes to the latest fashion trend and style tips, all you need to do is go to the latest fashion blog, check out a stylist’s twitter account, or go to a brand’s Facebook page to see what is happening. Not only do many designers have fashion blogs on their websites now, but their other social sites are constantly pumping out content of what the latest and greatest of the brand is.
