New York socialite Olivia Palermo launched her own personal blog, Olivia Palermo, a week ago after months of telling us this was coming. Nevermind the wait, we’re actually just excited that it’s finally here! Olivia has built her tremendous career from starring in The City and standing out for being the villain as well as her elegance and style sense. Her signature sleek wavy hair and amazing taste for accessories stole our hearts and keeps us wanting more!
Not only is Palermo recognized as a fashion mogul, she is now also dedicating much of her time to blogging where she is capturing her lifestyle and travel adventures for the rest of us to “oooh” and “ahhh” at!
Although fashion is a big part of her life, she explains that she intends her blog, Olivia Palermo, to be more diverse than just your “average blog”:
“I think everyone is expecting for me to do a site that’s all about fashion but there has to be a balance. My other interests–books, film, and travel–will also be represented.”
My first visit to her site surprised me by how simple and plain the layout was; it just didn’t strike me as something she had put her creativity and fashion sense into.
Rumors had been circulating for months about this blog with Olivia telling reporters that she was waiting until it was just perfect before she would launch it. Sadly, it looks to have be thrown together within a few days.
Did I mention that she has 15 different writers working for her website? Where is the Olivia creativity we all crave when 15 people are writing for the website? Some readers are saying :
“there are too many writers for this to be considered one person’s account of fashion as successful blogs are.”
Pictures look as if they’ve been snapped with an iPhone or Blackberry; I truly expected amazing HIGH QUALITY photos..but I won’t hold this against the blog.
The best is yet to come for her website – Olivia describes that she will be using a lot of young emerging designers. We love this! Olivia is very supportive of upcoming designers and making sure they get the press they need. She also explains that she will offer a click-to-buy portion on the blog where you can buy directly from these aspiring fashion designers.
And are you ready to be even more excited? Olivia admitted, finally, that she will be designing her own clothing line! Hooray! I can’t wait to start putting aside cash to snag some of her dresses…
“I just have so much going on right now–I have modeling, the blog, and other projects in the pipeline. I want to build my fashion company the proper way, in time. I can wait a little bit. But once I settle down a bit more and create a line it will most likely be evening wear. There is so much ready to wear out there already.”
Which means, that’s right people, more waiting for us to do. We hope, for her sake and ours, she takes all the time she needs to make sure everything is absolutely perfect and full of “Olivia” creativity! …crossing our fingers that she doesn’t pull a KanYe West wants to be a designer type of thing.
Blogging isn’t an easy sport you know, it takes a lot and I mean a TON of hard work, patience, and strict dedication to keep readers happy. This is only the first week oliviapalermo.com has been up and running. We’ll keep following along to see if she and her team of 15 gets the hang of this whole “blogging” business 😉

I’m with you on the design – the only interesting part of it is the script font! I also agree that Olivia + 15 writers does not a personal blog make. Now if she was using this site for launching her line – then I would see why she would need more writers.
Maybe it’s just me, but I relate to bloggers who have my budget. When someone has a pretty unlimited amount of funds, I like seeing how they styled clothes, but it’s just not relateable to me. Thus I probably won’t frequent her site very much.

Is Palermo recommending that you take a razor to your cashmere to de-pil it? http://www.oliviapalermo.com/haute-tip-sweater-pills/

Here is what bothers me…rather upsets me about Olivia Palermo’s blog: I do not feel a connection. You’re right, it appears to have been put together unthoughtfully in 3 days. The pics do not tell a story. And I do not see Olivia’s personality or fashion sense shining through at OliviaPalermo.com. I’ll keep checking back for improvements….
