How To Throw A July 4th Party
~ Throw a fabulous patriotic party in just 6 simple steps ~
1. Head Outside
When choosing your party venue, select a place where you can entertain your guests and still have plenty of space for activities. In other words, head outside! Look to your backyard, poolside, or to a local park that has grilling room, lots of green space, and a pavilion for shade if available.
2. Keep Decorations Simple
A Fourth of July party is supposed to be a casual, light-hearted affair, so keeping your decorations fun, simple, and hassle-free is the best way to go. Use materials you can easily find inside the house to make red, white, and blue details that add a pop of patriotic color. For example, paint some old mason jars red, white, and blue, and use them as vases for a festive Fourth of July centerpiece. Here’s a patriotic mason jar tutorial for this project. You can also gather red, white, and blue flowers from your backyard and use them to complement the color scheme of the holiday. For easy July 4th banners, try this patriotic duct tape tutorial.
3. Bring Out Blues (And Reds) For The Table
Create a patriotic tablescape that matches your decorations. Use plates, napkins, and linens that have the same colors to complement your décor, without going overboard. Bandanas can come in handy, either placed in mason jars with utensils or used as napkins. Gingham tablecloths look great too, but don’t be afraid to experiment and try out other prints, such as paisley!
4. Embrace A No-Fuss Menu
FOOD: When it comes to food, stick to the barbeque basics! Grilled chicken breasts, Applegate organic beef hotdogs, corn on the cob, and grilled veggies are perfect for the grill while giving your guests several options. Add classic side dishes such as potato salad or pasta salad to complete the meal. For vegans, try our amazing stuffed heirloom tomatoes.
DRINKS: For the beverages, try the two-drink idea. Choose two non-alcoholic drinks (maybe iced tea and lemonade) and two adult beverages (like beer, signature cocktail, and/or sparkling sangria). This is not only easier than stocking a full bar, but much more affordable. Don’t forget to stock up on bagged ice to avoid running out in the middle of the celebration and
Editor’s Note: If you do run out of alcohol during the festivities, be sure to have Minibar Delivery on speed dial!
For desserts, choose a simple crowd favorite. Put ice cream sandwiches inside cupcake wrappers, and then stick little flags in them for a fun and festive dessert. Another fun dessert is s’mores dip—super quick and easy, and great for feeding a crowd. Or, try our super cute, hand-dipped patriotic ice cream cones! You can even use gluten-free sugar cones.

5. Keep Your Guests Entertained
To complete the celebration, pick out activities for your guests in advance. If you have a backyard pool, be sure to tell your guests to bring their swimsuits! Have cute rafts blown up for lounging and great photo ops! We love the popular swan float, donut raft, and watermelon float for a pool party. Rub a watermelon with vaseline and throw it in the pool for a watermelon relay competition. Lawn games such as croquet, badminton, and bocce are really fun too and you can do them while drinking!
