Have you ever noticed that art and fashion go hand in hand? How each gets inspired by the other? LA Fashion Week kicked off with Concept – a collaboration of both – at the Ace Gallery on Wilshire Blvd. Attending this event was a treat, or shall I say steam bath?!? Thank goodness for the Pink Pigeon Rum cocktails!
The Ace Gallery hosted the 3 night fashion extravaganza, featuring 24 ultra talented and rising young designers and about a dozen artists in each of the many little rooms to present fashion shows, live art installations (artistic genre of 3-dimensional works), and culture.
During this event there was no distinction between fashion and art; the fashion shows were entertaining with fun acts by opera singers and native dancers on live drums.
Designers ranged from S&G, Sachika, Nuvula, Bohemian Society, Thai Nguyen, Bryan Hearns, and NAMI.
Filling in the scene to celebrate fashion and art in L.A. were trendsetting bloggers, the “oh so proper” partygoers, fashionable industry professionals, and artists.
The Vibe: 1990’s HIP-HOP Club – Almost everyone was in vintage inspired grunge clothing wearing this season’s dizzy-high platform and plenty of festive arm candy.
The Installations: Mesmerizing 1960’s displays – “Ice Hunters” by Melanie Mills incorporated a stunning live owl and left guests feeling like they were stranded in a forest during the dead of winter!
Many of LA’s popular bloggers attended CONCEPT including La Catrina de la Moda, Whats Haute in the Streets, Good Bad & Fab, LA Inspiration, The STYLE Map, Fashionism and Fashilocity.
