Fedoras or the Trilby – floppy and wide-brimmed – call them what you want, but these wool hats have made a comeback for Fall/Winter 2011. They’re the perfect way to top off your already fashionable outfit.
Now most of us, by now, have a fedora or two in our closet space. But what makes this one current and on trend is the material it’s made of. Yeah, so that means save that straw hat for a beach outings next summer. It’s time to find yourself the perfect wooly and warm accessory! What a perfect way to disguise those bad hair days that we all, yes we all, get from the harshly cold winter winds.
The fall fedoras look chic when worn with a pair of casual chinos or wide leg pants…and they look unbelievably wonderful on those chilly days when you wear that fur coat! The fedora is something I’d call a metamorphic piece. Sounds crazy, huh? Well, I assure you it’s not and that you must listen (or read) and learn. By metamorphic, I don’t mean it’s going to transform into a different hat, but that in the sense the hat can transform you (Oooooh)! Yes, that’s right! A bold and unique accessory like the wool fedora can make you feel and look like you walked out of a vintage Hollywood movie. Don’t believe me? Well then I dare you to try it!
We’ve seen it on the runway, in magazines, and worn as street style…now it’s your turn! If you wear a lot of darker colors in the fall like black and greys, a good way to add a splash of color is to try a gem-toned hat, or even a ruby red. A classic jet black or golden brown can be worn now (while we’re still in summer) through the fall/winter transition. Don’t be afraid to try color, bows, ties, and even feathers!
Wondering how I’ll wear this trend? Recently I picked up a 5/48 magenta toned wool fedora and I’m so in love with it. I want to wear it everywhere! It looks great with just about everything I own and it instantly adds a classic, vintage look. This one is a smaller version of the ones soon to come for me. I can’t wait to get my hands on a black Rag & Bone fedora. What do you think of mine?
As the internet is a never ending, free-for-all closet, here are my favorite fedora choices found via Polyvore. Go ahead, I play for hours too.. it’s a guilty pleasure.

I love it! I have always been afraid to try this trend, but you make it look easy! I’m going to incorporate this into my fall wardrobe for sure.
