Here in New York, winter just won’t seem to end! It reached 60 degrees two days so far but now it’s back to the mid-forties during the days and boy, is that a blow to my fashion morale. Sweatpants, anyone? Yes, please. These shoulder-season doldrums really challenge my “what to wear” skills. When my husband and I moved back to NYC from LA last fall, I only brought my heaviest down coat…
(P.S. That model’s haircolor is AMAZING. Put that on the list of things I need to get me through ’til spring!)
…and my light but wind-resistant black leather hoodie from Marc Ecko
So, I’m ready to make a purchase to bridge the gap, but it has to be something super versatile and it CAN’T be winter black. I’m swearing off black ’til fall. Here are three looks that I love at three very different price points:
First, the to-die-for sexy python trench from Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011. I’d wear this with everything. Including nothing. So gorgeous but, alas, I have a child to feed so it won’t be mine. Price Point: Total Insanity
Next on my list, this cute, swingy short coat from Custo Barcelona with detachable faux-fur shrug. Custo is a Spanish line I like a lot for all the color. Truly insane, over the top, color. Perfect for this time of year when I feel like I’ll puke if I have to wear another day of gray. Price Point: Less than $200
And for something truly affordable and just warm enough (with a nice, thick cashmere sweater underneath). This parka packs away small so it’s the perfect jacket for days that start off cold but warm up, or days that start off great and then get all sneaky and turn cold again (a.k.a. March). Price Point: Around $60
So, that’s what I have my eye on. What spring coats have grabbed your fancy?
