Extra-chunky arm cuffs and artistic bangles made quite a statement on the runways at NYFW spring 2013 and we can’t hardly even wait now to get our hands on those pieces. Several designers accessorized their models with these standout pieces and drew just as much attention to the jewelry as to the clothes. Some proved that less is more by featuring just a single cuff, while others showed that stacked bangles are an art statement on their own.

Cynthia Rowley’s collection featured pastel printed garments, accented with heavy gold bangles. The heavy jewelry was a nice offset to her soft, feminine looks. Elizabeth and James also featured this jewelry trend with round, dark wood and ivory bangles. Inspired by travel, most of their looks were kept simple with neutral tones and pulled together with oversized bracelets.
Tracy Reese’s collection was anything but simple! Featured were bright color combinations, sequins, and fringe. The jewelry was just as exciting as the clothing, as her models wore several bright bangles, mixed with smaller bracelets. Diane von Furstenberg’s collection also consisted of bright colors, as well as metallics; however, one look that stood out was a red evening dress paired with a chrome cuff that matched the dress’s neckline. Lulu Frost presented a variety of different, very amazing arm looks with tribal bangles all the way up the arms, as well as gold stacked bangles decorated by emerald green pendants.
At the Carmen Marc Valvo show, we saw lots of feminine accents such as bows and lace. He teamed up with jewelry designer, Hera Arkarakas, and presented a limited edition line of cuffs made of oxidized sterling silver, onyx and coral composite. Michael Kors called his collection “geometric glamour”, which included stripes, cutouts, and futuristic sunglasses. Model, Karlie Kloss, closed the show in a black dress with a cutout harness bodice and a clear acrylic cuff on each wrist.
Walter Baker accessorized one of his spring 2013 looks with a minimalistic, single, silver cuff. Tadashi Shoji and Monika Chiang both showed off thinner stacks of bangles. Tadashi opted for metallic gold bracelets and Monika Chiang mixed black, white and gray bracelets.
