I’d like to introduce you to an old friend of mine with truly impeccable style. You know those girls who just always look great, even if they’re just wearing baggy old jeans and a tank? Well, here she is. The always perfect, beautiful, stylish, and doll-faced Rachel Levy!
Interview with Rachel Levy:
1. What do you do for work/for fun. Your interests?
Right now I am really trying to break into the entertainment industry. Entertaining people has always been a huge passion of mine, but I thought it was silly to actually try to make it happen before. After being in a job that I hated, having a rough break-up, and moving back to Chicago, I finally decided that I am going to go ALL IN and will make it happen! I am taking acting and improv classes (which are so much fun and I really recommend that everyone take an improv class!) and working on some projects. I hope to eventually make it out to LA. So, we will see how things go and where I end up, but I am having fun along the way and that’s all that matters. The most important lesson you can learn is that you really need to make yourself happy, and don’t make a life or career decision based on making other people happy.
2. How do you combine your style and your everyday activities in a practical way?
I am a good combination of high and low maintenance (lack of manicure). The outfit I’m wearing here is definitely a “night out on the town” outfit. When bumming around, I usually wear loose tees and jeans. I feel that what makes the outfit is the shoes and the bag, so I always wear a purse that I love and shoes that are fashionable (yet comfy). I also won’t leave the house without wearing my rings, because I seriously feel naked without them.
2. Where do you get your style advice/tips?
I am definitely a huge fan of the Olsen Twins, Mary Kate and Ashley.
I may have stolen MK’s look with the rings, but she totally copied my hair.
I also like Jak and Jil blog, and photos of Kate Bosworth (what a stunner). I try to stay away from being influenced from fashion magazines, because then I feel like I “need” to buy things instead of buying items I truly love, which end up being the ones I wear the most.
3. Favorite clothing item?
Definitely my Yigal Azrouel leather jacket! When I was first picking out a leather jacket, everyone told me that I needed a brown one, because that was more my style and that black was too harsh for me. I said that I wanted to be the girl who rocks the black leather jacket, so I got it, and now I am happy to say that I have totally morphed my style into “that” girl 😉
4. What is your biggest pet peeve in fashion that a lot of people think is cool?
I really hate logos, whether it is the Tory Burch logo, Gucci logo, Coach logo. I just think they are so cheesy and branding yourself is not the same as having a sense of style.
5. Any thing else about your style or personality you want to add?
My biggest tip for staying and looking youthful is using under eye cream twice a day and spf face lotion daily. My mom started telling me to do that when I was 18 or 19 years old, and I talk to women who are in their 40s and that is their biggest regret- not starting soon enough.
I am wearing an Alisha Levine jumper (bought at Gretta Luxe in Boston, MA), Theory heels, Earrings from Cusp, Inge Christopher clutch (I had never heard of that designer until I got the clutch on sale at Intermix- they have the BEST sales), and rings– the black one was made by my friend Marlene Sutisna, skull from a consignment shop in Boston called The
Closet, layered rings consist of David Yurman and two were my Grandmother’s.
