There is a certain apparel, rather, style item that has been sporadically popping up everywhere around town. This item:
- is not sexy, yet the females love it
- will not get you a boyfriend, but it will increase your popularity
- will make you ooze with cool
What could it be? I’m talking about the ultra suave “le smoking slipper”. If it were a man wearing this item, the way it sounds is exactly what it would be used for.
Picture: A well-to-do gent relaxed on a plush dark leather couch in his library filled with leather bound books and a room which “smells of rich mahogany”; wrapped in his velvet Ralph Lauren robe with feet perched on an ottoman and encased in velvet Ralph Lauren loafers; whilst smoking a cigar and sipping on bourbon.
Now, ask me again, how does this shoe reference a popular female?
Us females love to steal man trends; tuxedo blazers and pants to oversized crisp white oxford shirts and baggy boyfriend jeans, the man trend can – in our eyes – be super sexy! Leandra Medine’s The Man Repeller, best known for her teachings and scenarios of how to repel men through high fashion style, trends, and most recently “fake wedgie picking” would find “le smoking slipper” a must-have item of the season. Right Leandra?
Not only will it repel men, but it will increase your lady friendships or at the very least cause other females to envy you and your chic attire. They will soon after own a pair of these beauties for themselves. Guaranteed.
For those with money in the bank try out these Christian Louboutin Metal-Capped Flat Loafers or The Alexander McQueen Skull Velvet Loafer. Those of you looking for an affordable “le smoking slipper”, stress not, this is the most popular shoe of the season among retailers, according to WWD, and thus many great options are available like these wild Steven by Steve Madden “Madee” Leopard Pony Hair Loafers.
Now ladies, I only wish I could take the credit for having coined the term “le smoking slipper” but sadly I did not. It’s genius and it rolls off my tongue so nonchalantly,
“I adore my le smokings”.
Originally, I thought about styling my le smokings with a high waisted khaki skirt and crisp white oxford per StyleCaster’s advice, but after much thought and 3 minutes later, I slipped into a pair of jeans and relaxed top because that’s what the man would do.
Interested to hear your thoughts…would you wear “le smoking slippers”? Velvet, suede, leopard print, studded – which do you fancy most…if you fancy?
