The nautical style trend is a personal favorite because it brings back wonderful memories and daydreams of warm summer months atop a pristine yacht. Blue skies, crystal clear ocean water, and warm sun combined with my close group of friends on the wooden deck of a smooth gliding boat with cocktail in hand…now if only this were a typical day in my life. The described lifestyle may require the likes of preppy nautical clothing, but that doesn’t mean that one cannot be seen off a yacht wearing the wardrobe pieces of a yacht goer. Indeed not!
Navy blue, crisp whites, gold, and stripes are typical nautical outfit flavors, and when combined with uber cool sunglasses, leather footwear, and rope-like accessories, you have the recipe for nautical success. Seeing as it is winter, I swapped the leather thongs for leather boots and rope-like bracelets for textured scarves. While lunching at Hotel del Coronado, the historic luxury beachfront hotel which overlooks the Pacific and happens to be the same spot that UGG recently shot their Spring 2012 editorial, I couldn’t help but imagine myself sunbathing atop the wooden decks of that crisp white yacht gliding over open waters. We’ll see…
