New York Fashion Week is much more than discovering new fashions and witnessing unbelievable street style, like the Chanel Hula Hoop bag. In fact, there were moments during New York Fashion Week that were random and hilarious and received, “I can’t believe that just happened!” outbursts. From unexpected front row seat gifts, workouts mid-show, and outfits that went really wrong to funny things that you can only experience at fashion week, we’ve got for you the 10 most unusual things from NYFW.
Betsey Johnson’s “BJ kicks A” show during NYFW wasn’t exactly your typical fashion show, as the models proceeded to workout mid walk (see pic to left). Kate Spade added “Crazy Town” bling rings to their models hands in order to show onlookers that the brand is not as conservative as one has previously thought. Bill Cunningham, the NY Times street style photographer, had photographers who thought they were as good as he was, as was proven through similar squat positions.
One man thought that he could wear his sleeping bag as outerwear. Kyle Anderson of Kyleeditor.com and Accessories Director of Marie-Claire Magazine sported the famous Chanel hula hoop bag from Chanel’s SS13 collection during New York Fashion Week Fall ’13.
In the past, it was only the fashion insiders who got to see the unusual things that happened at New York Fashion Week, but that’s no longer! Have you seen how the lights are adjusted in the tents at Lincoln Center? See the photo below of the man adjusting the lights on the ceiling during NYFW. Runway show sponsors always offer gifts to their front row, but we luck out when its an edible gift! Ralph Lauren wished a Happy Valentine’s Day to his front row guests with a box of Dylan’s chocolates. The Band of Outsiders show also offered an unexpected edible gift – a cantaloupe cookie. Lastly, the Nemo snow storm made havoc for fashionistas during fashion week. Nevertheless, New York Fashion Week goers show no adjustments to their wardrobe and maintain that they will continue to wear Louboutins and Chanel hula hoop bags – even in a blizzard!
