What To Wear To NYFW Winter Shows
Look #1. Embroidered Coat
Known in the industry for her refined taste and impeccable street style, Mira rocks a detailed Valentino cape and Hermes “Kelly” in suede. What makes this look so functional for NY fashion week is the embroidered detail of her outwear. It’s no secret New York is very cold this time of year, so covering your ensemble with a statement jacket is key!

Sunglasses, even in dead of winter, are perfectly valid. Whether you’re wearing them outdoors or indoors, choosing to accessorize with a funky pair of sunglasses has never been more on trend, due to designers such as Fendi and contemporary labels like Wildfox, whom are creating colorful, unique and fun options for whatever mood or look you are trying to achieve at NYFW.

Look #3. Color Block Fur Coat
By far one of the easiest throw-on’s for an understated outfit, the colorful fur or faux-fur coat makes a pungent statement to any simple outfit. Pair with a trendy Gucci backpack and Barbara Bui booties, as fashion influencer, Shea Marie of Peace Love Shea did with her Elizabeth and James coat. When you tie in bold pieces such as a fur coat, you can make any pair of black skinny jeans look ultra-glam. Did I mention this streetwear look will keep you extra warm, too?
Look #4. Fedora
Internationally-known fashion blogger, Jacey Duprie of Damsel in Dior, shows off her spin on how to dress for cooler weather by layering a brown leather mini-skirt with stockings, a crisp button-up under a striped sweater and military-like coat, topped off with a fedora. Layering your outfit is not only smart and chic, but pulling the whole look together with a fedora….amaze balls!
Look #5. Platform Sneakers
Different than the sandal platform that we are all used to seeing, the sneakers platform has made quite the entrance this past year in the fashion world. Whether its an oxford platform or a Stella McCartney sneaker platform, this shoe style is a must-try.

Look #7. Monotone Pantsuit
To Chanel or not to Chanel? In all fashionista cases, let’s be real, always Chanel. Especially if we are talking fashion week. Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad, seen below, was recently spotted wearing a tweed, Chanel pant suit with a matching Chanel cross-body. Both jacket and pants are a part of the Chanel’s SS/15 collection. But, it doesn’t have to be Chanel! Other designers have jumped on the pantsuit bandwagon too.
Look #8. Chunky Scarf
As featured on Topshop, this bold streetwear accessory is perfect to counter the cooler weather of New York during NYFW winter shows. Wearing a bold scarf adds sass and a whole lot of personality to an outfit. And that’s something that is always welcome at the week-long fashion event!
Look #9. Neutral Hues
Lena Perminova sets the bar with her Chloe ensemble for how to wear neutral hues! Matching your neutral wardrobe pieces together gives a very sophisticated look. The key to nailing this look is to choose a color that compliments your skin complexion. You should also be aware of the colors that play well together in your monochromatic scheme.

Look #10. Mixing Prints
What has previously been known as a fashion faux pas is now this season’s must try. Kind of like the monochromatic look, this trend can be hard to master. However, if done right the result is ohhhh so fabulous. Emma Stone was recently spotted wearing this mixed print look and absolutely killed it! What made her look so stylish is that it was simple. Choosing classic patterns in the same color palette, such as the polka-dot and horizontal stripe in black and white, help to tone down the otherwise wild look.
Look #11. Winter White
Refreshing and elegant, a winter white outfit is instant sophistication. Below, Australian fashion mavens, Tash Sefton (left) and Elle Ferguson (right), show-off their spin on the trend with a flowy midi skirt and blazer as well as a boyfriend button-up and high waisted shorts. The nude heels are also a winner!
Look #12. The Athletic Sneaker
Who says heels are a must for glam events? For the fashion world right now, athletic sneakers with cool outfits are an instant love. Dress down your sleek black blazer or embroidered coat, with a pair of Adidas or New Balance sneakers, like Aimee Song of Song of Style did, below. Best part of this look, your feet will love you at the end of the day…and that’s key at NYFW!
