Yesterday marked a very sad day, and a day that will go down in history. 56 year old Steve Jobs passed away shortly after the unveiling of the iPhone 4S, after an 8 year battle with cancer.
Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, and former CEO will forever be remembered as a legendary human being who literally changed the way the world communicates. Through music, media, and technology and memorable products like the iPod, iPhone, and most recently iPad, Jobs created tools for the masses to operate more efficiently in their daily lives.
His dark wash Levi jeans, mock black turtleneck by St. Croix, and New Balance sneakers have much deeper meaning than a simple uniform. He envisioned better ease of life for all of us out there and it was only his beautiful, simple products that could achieve this ridiculous task. Steve Job’s uniform speaks volumes and proves that he lived everyday with his goal in sight.
Stanford, class of 2005, was most fortunate to have Steve Jobs speak for their commencement. In his famous speech he says,
When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: ‘If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.’ It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: ‘If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?’ And whenever the answer has been ‘No’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.
Put up for adoption at a young age, Steve accomplished the impossible! A great mentor, visionary, and rebel, Steve Jobs will forever go down in history as the man who created Apple and the man who changed the world.
