Style Fashion Week LA ended with a bang at Gen Art’s Fresh Faces in Fashion show at Vibiana, the former cathedral. The designers’ collections presented hoped to catch the eyes of spectators especially Zoe Saldana, who is helping these young talented artists succeed.

Zoe Saldana, a huge supporter of new designers, was the host of the evening and was also on the hunt for new designers for her two year old startup My Fashion Database (MyFDB). MyFDB is to fashion what IMDb is to entertainment – organizing the models, photographers, designers, and brands into a user-friendly online resource. She wants to be part of supporting these designers as they become successful. According to Saldana, “Everybody starts somewhere”.
Gen Art is an organization known for showcasing emerging designers in fashion, film, music and visual arts, producing high profile events, ranging from a week-long Sundance film festival to massive star-studded fashion shows, live music performances, and art exhibitions. Gen Art has previously helped launch the careers of Rodarte, Zac Posen, Phillip Lim, and Rebecca Taylor, to name a few.
Many LA bloggers were in attendance: Karen Lacanilao of Fashion Groupie, Lara Jones of Whats Haute in the Streets, Sasha Jones of LA Inspiration, Heather Petrey of LA Fashionsnob, and Sade Strehlke of The Icon Concierge were all snapping up the newest talent. Designers presented were We are Handsome, Dear Creatures, Odylyne, Chambers, 71 Stanton, Funktional, Stand and Deliver, as well as accessory lines Sticks and Stones, Iman Toloui, Plomo and Tomtom.
