So, you’re hosting a Memorial Day Weekend party. You’ve told all your friends…this party is going to be great! Oh, but there’s just one thing…you’re in charge of preparing the food and drink – the complete MDW menu. Ahhhh! Don’t know where to begin? Not to worry, we’ve got you covered! We have come up with a super easy, absolutely elegant, and relatively healthy MDW menu. Prepare each of these recipes in advance and serve on party day. You’ll be getting Martha Stewart compliments left and right.
Memorial Day Weekend Party Menu: Pool, Entree, Dessert, & Drinks
1. Pool Eats – serve fresh fruit because it’s not too messy, requires no cooking, and has no mess.
Strawberry Shortcake Kebabs – served fresh or straight off the grill (if you have one). Recipe here.
2. Entree – hamburgers and hotdogs are so overplayed, fatty, and really messy. Wow! your guests by serving them the simplest food in the world – the grilled cheese sandwich – and cook it the way it is supposed to be cooked…on the grill!
Real Grilled Cheese & Tomato Sandwich – this sandwich takes no time to prepare in advance and will have guests salivating at the mouth as it cooks on the bbq. Recipe Here.
3. Dessert Bites – you know how no one ever wants to make the leap into that large, grocery-purchased cake? Why not invite all of your guests to take part in dessert by offering the cutest sweet treats in the world that they wont be able to resist…
Patriotic Cake Pops – these treats need to be made a day or 2 in advance. Get a friend to help you! Note: this recipe needs red, white, and blue food coloring for patriotic flare, so don’t forget to add to your grocery list! Recipe Here.
4. Pool Cocktails – as the host, you’re required to provide alcohol. Ask your guests to bring the beer and you’ll provide elegant, patriotic, poolside drinks. They’ll think you’ve taken bartender classes in your past when they see what you serve them.
Red, White, & Blue Cocktails – create your favorite red drink (vodka cranberry or sex on the beach?) and then finish off the drink with blue pop rocks lining the rim of each glass.
Here’s how to line cocktails with blue rims: 1st dampen rims with lemon juice, 2nd dip rims in “tropical punch blue pop rocks” on a plate. Finally, pour glasses with red concoction.
